Affordable Manuscript/Book Critique

Congratulations, you've finally finished that new book!

You've had your wife or husband, sister, best friend and a cousin read it, but the only response you seem to get is"It's good" or  "I liked it."

We all know that isn't enough. What you need is in-depth feedback, a review from a knowledgable source with a critical eye.

That's where I come in!

Critique Service:

I will read your completed manuscript or self-published book and give you the critique you crave. Fee: $40 for books up to 80,000 word count. Slightly higher for longer books.

I will provide a critique of approximately 500 words in length including:
  • An overview and review of the book
  • Comments on character development and like-ability of protagonist(s)
  • Comments on the plausibility of storyline, noting elements that may negatively influence a reader's suspension of belief
  • Comments on the flow of the story
  • My review posted on Amazon and Goodreads (if desired)
In addition, I will point out:
  • Redundancies and other perceived problematic areas
  • Editing, grammatical and typographical issues
  • ebook formatting issues (if applicable)
I currently only accept Full Length Fiction Novels or Novellas in the genres of:
Chick Lit
General Romance (Contemporary, Historical etc.)

#HS Readathon Wrap Up

Time to wrap up another Seasons of Reading readathon, and it's no surprise to me that I didn't manage to get even half way through my TBR. In fact, I deviated from it—a book I'd put on hold at the library came in.

Here's what I did read: Her Best Laid Plans by Cara McKenna and the defection, God-Shaped Hole by Tiffanie DeBartolo.

Her Best Laid Plans was a novella, a quick bit of satisfying romance with a heavy dollop of steam. I hadn't expected the story to be so sexual, though I should've, especially knowing McKenna's previous work—but the prior stuff I've read by this author were longer novels where sexual scenes felt more in balance with other themes in the story. In this case, because the story was so short, I wasn't mentally prepared for the depth of the steam that the story contained. Despite that, Cara McKenna knows her way around storytelling.
